History:
Anke Engel passed her Cadet Cruise with High Honors and went on to have an outstanding
career. She was assigned to the USS Yamato during its comission and stayed
with it for 3 years. When Commander El Kadi was
assigned as commanding officer of Deep Space 7, he invited Anke to be the chief
medical officer of the station. She accepted and left the Yamato before her
relationship with Captain Phillip
Weygand had had time to grow. During her time at DS7, Anke had many adventures
and became an accomplished geneticist. This earned her a position as researcher
at Starfleet Medical. Once back on Terra, she met Weygand again and, finally,
started a relationship with him ("Interlude").
At present, they serve together at the USS Highflyer.

Mercedes is a career officer who also managed to have a life. Although her marriage
didn't last, it lasted long enough to give her Catarina. Mercedes' career had
more ups than downs, a fact reflected by her being offered the command of the
second Galaxy-class ship. The events at Gamma Kesis I ("The
Awakening, part 1") left her marked, but also strengthened her will. This
served her well in her next tour of duty, the command of the Neutral Zone Task
Force. After seven years in the Task Force, Mercedes decided to leave the starship
life. She pursued her second calling, law, and, eventually, attained her present
post as Judge Advocate General.
