History:Daniel
was the only child of Starfleet officers. His parents, along with their
best friend Simok, died when their ship exploded. Simok's father, Ambassador
Sidak of Vulcan, and his wife, T'Rami, took 6-year-old Daniel to Vulcan
and raised him as their foster son. At 18, Daniel enrolled in Starfleet
Academy and went on to have a brilliant career, even earning a Medal of
Honor. Almost a year after being assigned as Chief Operations Officer of
the USS Yamato, Daniel died at the hands of his foster father. Sidak was
being controlled by an extragalactic parasite who forced him to kill Daniel
in a Vulcan Trial by Combat ("Conspiracy").
Starfleet honored Daniel posthumously by naming a ship after him.

History:The
being who would be named Damien was found in a small ship of then unknown
configuration that crashed on the planet after a particularly violent ion
storm. Besides Damien, there were four other crewmembers, all dead. Damien
was found barely alived. Thanks to a reformed Starfleet surgeon, Dr. Kurt
Waldergahr, Damien survived. Dr. Waldergahr had to excise many of the cybernetic
components in Damien's body, like the armor plates; others, like the eye,
were replaced by Federation standards. After notifying Starfleet of the
event, Kurt and his wife, Martha, decided to take care of Damien. They
gave him a name, fed him and taught him everything, from language to etiquette.
Four years later, Damien applied for Starfleet Academy. He suffered double
the scrutiny necessary, but was accepted. Damien graduated with High Honors
and went to have a fine career. After the Enterprise had first contact
with the Borg Collective (ST:TNG
Q Who?), Damien was recalled to
Starfleet Command and underwent a new series of tests. Once again, he passed,
but was put under observation, as no one knew for sure if he was Borg or
not. After the Borg invasion (ST:TNG The Best of Both Worlds), it
was confirmed that Damien was, in fact, Borg. Starfleet Command considered
him a possible security risk, but he had not given them any reason, during
his career, to warrant a dismissal from service. Even so, Damien began
to suffer a very subtle discrimination concerning advancement in ranks.
Damien does not remember anything prior to his waking up on the Federation
farming colony of Gaius III. His organic memory is suffering amnesia and
his computer implant had most of its memory banks either destroyed or wiped
clean. Also, the subspace communicator implant that let every Borg communicate
with the Collective was damaged during the crash, so the Borg could never
track Damien's ship.
