History: Holly Jenkins was a prostitute in 1862 Virginia. Despite her hardships in life, Holly tried to be a good person. Her pimp despised her and often beat her for not bringing enough money home. One night, Holly was mugged on her way home and lost all that night’s earnings. Her pimp, already drunk, was furious and started beating her more violently than ever before. Amid the pain, Holly realized that she was going to die this time and something snapped inside her. She fought back for the first time. That only enraged her pimp more and he started strangling her. Teetering at the brink of consciousness, Holly heard a voice inside her head: "Join me and I will give you power to fight all those who have hurt you." Holly said yes. A rush of energy flooded her and she felt imbued with great strength, which she promptly used to kill her pimp. The voice in her head belonged to the demon Cernobubos who have trained Holly to be his Earth enforcer ever since. More than a century of demonic tutoring has changed Holly Jenkins into Holly Caust, a spiteful and cruel supernatural human who delights in hurting those who defy Cernobubos.
Note: Holly is based on the Holocaust character of The Oblivion War story arc in Bill Willingham’s Elementals comic book.

History: Leon's family was murdered by a pack of roving Vampyres when he was 16. He only survived by pure luck: he had biked back to town to buy some supplies for their camping trip. When he came back, the Vampyres had killed all his family. They were sated so they didn't drain him to death. Instead, they left him to die alone. Leon was found by Byron Retfield, an ex-Sentinel who was hunting the Vampyre pack. Byron took the boy to the hospital and tracked down the sleeping place of the Vampyres, destroying all of them. Byron took Leon under his wing and trained him as an occult vigilante for 8 years. Eventually, they parted ways, but remained good friends. In 1996, Leon saved Milos Prazec, a Czech True Immortal, from a vengeful Feral. Grateful for Leon's help, the Athalian Maker presented him with an Orikalk knife and bullets. From them on, Leon had a powerful weapon against his foes. Leon's other advantage in his fight against the supernatural came in 1999, when he saved an Egyptian Wicce, Fatima Akel, from a kelpie in Ireland. To pay off her life debt, Fatima gave Leon an amulet which shields him from mystical attacks.
Note: Leon started as a super-hero character, the Exorcist, from one of my teenage drawings. I wrote him up for a super-hero campaign I ran using DC Heroes and another one using Fuzion. His Fuzion stats are here. When Beyond Human is released, I'll probably post a more "super" version of him.
